Tohono Chul members, tonight is the night! This morning, the gardens team was greeted by a surprise: our Queen of the Night cacti are ready to bloom TONIGHT, Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Our queens have accelerated their flower development and are sprinting towards the finish line. Come to Tohono Chul tonight between 7 and 11 pm to experience the wonder of the queen of the night, one of the Sonoran Desert’s most surreal plants.
For one night only, the gorgeous white satellite-dish-shaped blossoms will open to share their melon fragrance with the night air in hopes of attracting the moths that pollinate them.

Bloom Talks with Jack Dash
‣ 7:30 PM | Exhibit House Main Gallery
Join Gardens & Facilities Manager Jack Dash for an introduction to the ecology, pollination, and fascinating life history of the Queen of the Night.
‣ 9:00 PM | Desert View Trail Entrance
Learn more about this remarkable cactus and its spectacular bloom during an outdoor presentation with Jack Dash near some of Tohono Chul’s flowering queens.
Take a Queen Home
Nursery Assistant Manager Jill Gall will be in the Desert Corner Nursery offering Queen of the Night cacti for sale for those who want to add this remarkable plant to their collection.
Art Exhibit
Our annual Queen of the Night gallery exhibition will be on view, showcasing how artists interpret and celebrate this extraordinary desert organism.
Garden Bistro Bar
Enjoy drinks in Sami’s Courtyard from 6:30 to 10 p.m., including beer, wine (red and white), and sodas.
Final Morning Viewing
Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, June 3, Tohono Chul will open at 6 a.m. for a final opportunity to view the blooms before the flowers close and the plants enter their long seasonal rest until next year.
