SUMMARY:Plein Air Painting with Homemade Watercolors w/ Catherine Nash
DESCRIPTION:Saturday and Sunday\, November 8th + 9th | 9:00am – 3:00 pm | Education Center\n\nFrom earth to watercolors to paper! Catherine first observed how to filter pigments from the earth at a historical pigment mill in southern France and has since adapted the process for use in her studio. In this special two-day workshop\, she will demonstrate her filtering process and teach students how to make their own vine charcoal. Using the provided materials\, participants will mull filtered earth pigments and charcoal into a natural watercolor binder made of gum arabic and honey to create their own homemade\, professional quality watercolor paints. With full access to the beautiful grounds of Tohono Chul\, we will paint outside with our own handmade watercolors en plein aire. Taking inspiration from the dramatic light\, color\, and varied textures of the Sonoran Desert. Catherine will teach pertinent\, expressive brushwork and mark making using our watercolors\, varied color drawing media\, ink\, and more. Learn how wonderful the experience of working outdoors can be as we learn to capture quick dynamic studies of nature with fresh and brilliant results! \nWorkshop rates include all of the materials to create a set of three or four homemade watercolor paints. Ahead of the workshop\, a simple supply list will be sent to you. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Bring your own lunch and refillable water bottle. Cold sparkling water will be provided for workshop participants! \nAll levels welcome. \n\n  \n$300 Members | $350 General Public
