SUMMARY:Mini-Ofrenda Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, September 27\, 2025 | 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Education Center \nJoin Tohono Chul as we prepare for Día De Los Muertos and our annual Chiles\, Chocolate and Day of the Dead Festival (CCDOD) with a workshop on the tradition of ofrendas and altars. Antonio C. Estrada and Gloria J. Valenzuela will share their knowledge of the traditions related to the Day of the Dead\, guiding participants on how to create a mini-ofrenda for their loved ones. Utilizing their experience creating large- and small-scale Día De Los Muertos Altares\, Tony and Gloria will talk about elements\, symbols\, and objects that go into the design and creation of an altar. Mini ofrendas from previous years will guide this show-and-tell\, revealing the stories each one possesses\, while encouraging each participant to design and create a mini-ofrenda on their own in the weeks following this workshop. \nMini-ofrendas inspired by Antonio and Gloria’s workshop are welcome to be part of the Chiles\, Chocolate\, and Day of the Dead Festival’s Altar Project on Friday\, October 31st and Saturday\, November 1st.*  In its eighth year\, the CCDOD Altar Project\, brings together small altars of personal remembrance\, created by professional artists and school groups\, along with an interactive Community Ofrenda designed and created by Antonio and Gloria. \n*Tohono Chul’s Arts Department will install and label your mini-ofrenda to be part of the Chiles\, Chocolate\, and Day of the Dead Festival. \n$35 Members | $50 General Public \nImage: Mini-Ofrenda from 2024 Chiles\, Chocolate\, and Day of the Dead Festival Altar Project
