“My paintings are mostly intuitive and influenced by the place I am in. Since I belong to two places – my native Warsaw and adopted Tucson, I travel between them regularly and experience changes of climate, light, colors, culture, rhythm of life and human behavior. Sonoran Desert appears often in my works. I am fascinated by the endless space, incredible light, strange plants and creatures found in here. My paintings are usually abstracted and filled with very saturated colors. I like to emphasize the horizon line which seems to dominate the space here. My landscape paintings are meditation on space and light (also the heat and lack of water) of the desert.”

Beata Wehr is a visual artist and educator. She was born in Warsaw, Poland, and currently lives and works in Tucson, Arizona, traveling back to Europe every year.  Beata’s paintings are mostly intuitive and much influenced by the place she is in. Since she belongs in two places — her native Warsaw and her adopted Tucson, she travel between them regularly and experience changes of climate, light, colors, culture, rhythm of life and human behavior. She goes back and forth between figuration and abstraction, trying to capture the feelings associated with specific locations or sometimes transforming the landscape into an almost non-descriptive one.
