The inspiration for Aimee Smythe’s fiber art comes from her admiration for modern art, her personal spiritual journey and the natural world. As seen in this botanical print, distinctive colors and light representing organic abstract compositions are created by printing and layering multiple photos on the fabric – in this case, habotai or “China” silk. Using a variety of techniques including hand-dyeing, shibori and resist complement the process.
