Ana Maria Iordache
Sunday, April 27 | 1:30 – 3 PM
Born in Bucharest, Ana Maria Iordache is recognized as one of the leading Romanian classical guitarists of her generation. A laureate of numerous prestigious international competitions, she has earned first prizes at the Texas Guitar Competition (USA), Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Madrid, Certamen Llobet (Spain), Classical Guitar International Competition Sinaia (Romania), and several others.
She has performed as a soloist across the United States, Latin America (Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile), and Europe (Romania, Spain, France, Germany). At age 14, she debuted with the Tirgu Mureș Philharmonic at the International Classical Guitar Festival in Romania. Ana Maria is also an active chamber musician, collaborating in guitar duos, trios, quartets, and mixed ensembles. Highlights include her performance of Concierto Andaluz by Joaquín Rodrigo in Alicante, Spain, and multiple appearances in the “Science Lectures” series at Centennial Hall (USA), playing for audiences of up to 2,000.
In 2017, she released her debut album Reverie with Romanian label E&E Music Production, featuring works by Barrios Mangoré, Llobet, Granados, and Albéniz.
Ana Maria began studying guitar at age six with Eugen Mang. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the National University of Music in Bucharest and graduated cum laude from the Master in Classical Guitar Performance program in Alicante, Spain, where she studied with renowned artists including David Russell, Sergio & Odair Assad, Manuel Barrueco, and Pepe Romero. She later earned a second Master’s degree from the University of Arizona, where she is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts under Tom Patterson, with mentorship from artists in residence David Russell and the Assad Brothers.
