Have you ever wondered about the animals scurrying around your yard and wished you could document them? In our 3rd Desert Dialogues lecture series, join Tohono Chul Docents Olivia Carrey and Gerri Conn for an enlightening class where you’ll learn how to select, set up, and make the best use of a wildlife camera. We’ll cover everything from choosing a camera, to positioning it for optimal results. Plus, you’ll gain insights into the wildlife camera project at Tohono Chul, where we’re capturing the fascinating creatures that visit our park and sending that data to local conservation groups. Perfect for nature lovers and aspiring citizen scientists alike! This lecture will include a 30 minute Q&A with our docents to answer your wildlife camera questions.

$5 for members | $10 for the general public

Meet The Speakers

Olivia Carey (pictured above) joined the Tohono Chul Docent program when she moved to Tucson on retiring in 2015. She quickly became fascinated with the local wildlife and was one of the original members of the Camera Crew when it formed in 2017. She helped establish the goals and procedures and led the group until last year when she handed the reins to fellow Tohono Chul docent, Gerri Conn. Gerri Conn (not pictured) became a docent at Tohono Chul in February of 2022 and later that year began working with Olivia on the Trail Camera project that she revived after the covid shutdown ended.  Tracking the appearance and movement of Sonoran wildlife around Tohono Chul using the trail cameras has been fascinating and educational for Gerri.
