Are you planning to go to our fall plant sale but do not know how to take care of desert plants? Look no further! Join Tohono Chul Docent, Hank Verbais, dive into the art of Sonoran Desert gardening. Get first-hand knowledge in gardening in this arid region while exploring topics that include understanding our desert’s growing seasons to selecting native plants adapted to endure our climate. This class will provide the foundations to ensuring your garden and new plant additions not only survive but thrive. This lecture will include a 30 minute Q&A with TCP Docents Hank Verbais and Larry Lynam to answer your gardening questions.

$5 for members | $10 for the general public


Meet The Speakers

 

Hank Verbais (left) joined our docent program in 2015 and is a certified garden educator and Master Naturalist. He is currently a Plant Advisor in our Desert Corner Nursery and leads many of our specialty Tours, like the Poetry and Plant walks. Larry Lynman (right) moved to Tucson from Florida, where he was a master gardener, and joined our docent program in 2022 and is one of our dedicated Rovers in the park. Since moving to Tucson, Larry has adapted to Sonoran Desert living and his stunning garden has been featured on the 23rd annual Master Gardener Home Garden Tour.
