Photographer, Kate Hoover is the fourth artist to exhibit her work in Tohono Chul’s 2023-2024 Entry Gallery Project Space season with a body of work inspired by wandering the desert.

“I have always found solace in nature. Living in the desert, I keep company with craggy mountains and dry arroyos that may transform in an instant into roiling rivers; with animals both wild and domestic, some elusive and others merely wary; under everchanging skies. All may be subject, and my attention is torn between heaven and earth. My eye snags on a flash of color or a curious shape. Looking up, the sky alters chameleon-like, with colors infinite and buoying shape-shifting clouds. Looking down, close attention reveals that grasses, flowers, leaves, and seeds are complex structures with myriad intricate parts and inviting mysteries.
