As the spring sun warms the Sonoran Desert, Tohono Chul invites you to celebrate Arbor Day at this special event for members like you!

During this special event, you’ll have the chance to learn more about the behind-the-scenes work Tohono Chul does and how you can get involved. A variety of tables will be set up featuring information about our gardens, activities, events, and programs as well as displays from our partners and staff.

The 2nd Annual State of the Garden Address will provide an exciting opportunity to hear from Tohono Chul Executive Director, Jamie Maslyn Larson. She will discuss future plans for Tohono Chul and how we aim to beautify, diversify, and address the climate concerns facing the region.

WHAT’S IN STORE:

  • The 2nd Annual State of the Garden Address by Executive Director Jamie Maslyn Larson
  • Live music by the Beatle Brothers, Tucson’s very own Beatles tribute band!
  • Delicious food and drinks from local vendors and the Garden Bistro
  • Reptile Ramble—get up close and personal with some snakes, tortoises, and lizards!
  • A special Arbor Day tree planting with Gardens Manager Jack Dash
  • Join a docent-led poetry & plant walk
  • Meet and mingle with the dedicated staff that keeps Tohono Chul running
  • Connect with other members or see what being a member is all about!

State of the Garden Address

10:30 – 11 am | Performance Garden
with Executive Director Jamie Maslyn Larson, FASLA

Join us for the 2nd annual State of the Garden Address with Executive Director and esteemed Landscape Architect, Jamie Maslyn Larson.

Jamie will share updates on the progress of ongoing projects and initiatives and discuss plans for the future of Tohono Chul. This is a great opportunity for members to get a sneak peek into the exciting things happening in the life of our gardens!

ARBOR DAY TREE PLANTING
9 am | Entrance

Celebrate Arbor Day with a special tree planting led by Gardens Manager Jack Dash.


POETRY & PLANT WALK
9 – 10 am | Sami’s Courtyard

Explore the beauty of poetry and nature on a guided walk led by a knowledgeable docent at 9:00 am in Sami’s Courtyard!


REPTILE RAMBLE
9 – 10:30 am | Overlook

Come see some native (and maybe some non-native!) reptiles up close! You might see a tortoise, a gopher snake, or even a king snake!

THE BEATLE BROTHERS
11 – 12 pm | Performance Garden

Get groovy with a special performance by The Beatle Brothers, Tucson’s very own Beatles tribute band!

FOOD & DRINK

Enjoy tasty eats from local food and drink vendors, plus a cash bar from the Garden Bistro. Cheers!
